A lifelong artist, Alana began a serious study of face painting around 2006. With a background in fine art, graphic art, and animation, Alana loves taking face painting far beyond the realm of cute little hearts and balloons on the cheek. In search of deepened skills, Alana has spent hundreds of hours painting and practicing.
She has attended the Living Canvas convention, and taken lecture classes with world-class body artists and teachers such as Christopher Agostino, Jodi Carr, Gary Cole, Shannon Fennell, Raphaelle Fieldhouse, Mark Reid, Pashur, and the Wolfe Brothers.
She has taken small, hands-on workshops with Lucie Brouillard, Gina Niemi, Brian Wolfe, and Pashur. Alana organized a two-day Wolfe class covering dramatic face and body painting techniques, plus prosthetics in silicone and latex. Alana also spearheads the monthly Body Paint Jam at the Frank Bette Center for the Arts in Alameda, CA.
In addition, Alana has gratefully received training and mentorship from many experienced body artists who have generously shared their talent and skills. She regularly attends face-painting jams and occasionally hosts them herself.
In February 2010, she completed a week at the Las Vegas Face Paint and Body Art convention.
All of this training is a means toward more expressive, beautiful, unique, and fun painting on YOU and the ones you love!
Alana focuses primarily on face painting, body art, and other visual arts. She doesn't do balloon animals, magic tricks, or clowning. She can lead singalongs, act as a character, make up stories on the spot, and participate in improvisational theater. Inquire about costumed characters to suit specific themes.
